Clean the contacts with a sandpaper or wire brush. Inspect the connectors of the ground cables (battery to body, body to engine) for any signs of rust or corrosion. The reading should be at or very close to zero ohms. Touch one probe to the negative terminal of the battery, and the other probe to any exposed metal part of the engine.
